Welcome to our Anticapitalist Business Directory!

This is a directory for businesses who espouse anti-capitalist values. Your inclusion on this list is entirely based on opting in. If you think you’re anticapitalist, you are welcome to add yourself to the directory. 

I’m not interested in being the arbiter of who is “anticapitalist enough” and I hope you’re not either. Being opposed to capitalism while trying to survive it is tough, and everything about being a tiny business is simply an experiment anyway. There are so many different ways to practice anticapitalism, and plenty of ways that I don’t live up to my own ideals either. I trust your judgement! 

I want this Anticapitalist Business Directory to be a way for your perfect-fit clients to find you! And for you to connect with dreamy collaborators. Maybe you might make a friend or two. Capitalism tries to keep us apart; this directory is a small gesture towards bringing us together. 

Side quest about the origin story of this Directory: I’ve had an idea to make something like this for years, but I was never clear about how to monetize it, so the idea just stayed on the back burner! For me, like so many of you, making money is not a great motivator. Then I realized the directory could be a fundraiser instead of an income stream, and I was immediately inspired to take action. Which is just to say, trust your instincts. They tend to be inherently anticapitalist. <3

For now, the directory is a super simple searchable spreadsheet. In the future, it may get built out into a website with more bells and whistles. And we’re starting out by inviting all the folks who have ever participated in some offering of mine, whether that’s taking a course, being part of coaching, showing up for a free event, etc. Eventually it will be open to the wider public, but we’re taking things one step at a time! 

There’s no cost to be included in the Anticapitalist Business Directory, but this project is a fundraiser for different rad organizations. Currently, we are raising funds for the Manahatta Fund, World Central Kitchen, and Women with a Vision. It’s up to you how much you give, and we’ll track the donations so we can celebrate our collective success.
