Solidarity rates for Marketing For Weirdos are available for marginalized people with financial need.

The full price for this course is $540. You can pay half price ($270) or pay ten percent of the course fee ($54).

I don’t put a limit on the number of discounted spots, but for my own financial well-being, I need most of the people who sign up for the class to pay the full rate.

How to determine if this is for you:

This may seem like a lot of words, but I’m doing a thing that’s sometimes delightful but also sometimes scary for me in offering deep discounts to total strangers! I’ve written it with a lot of love, and I ask you to please take the time to read it all and deeply consider a factual assessment of your situation. I ask you to consider your own finances and mine. Once you sign up, there’s no need to feel guilty on my account! I trust your self-assessment and I’m truly happy to have you here, regardless of what you pay. Some thoughts about you: What’s your current financial situation, in terms of the hard numbers? Because of capitalist conditioning, many of us have a tendency to feel more financially insecure than we actually are, so I ask you to assess based on facts, not feelings. In addition to your current financial situation, I ask that you consider identity-based privilege, relative earning potential, and access to financial support from your family/network. If you have a people in your life who could give or lend you the money to pay for this course, please utilize that network rather than the discount codes. Paying the standard rate if you’re able (even on a payment plan) allows me to offer discounts to those who need them.

Some context about me: I grew up working class/poor, am unmarried, and do not have family wealth or assets. I am white, currently able-bodied, queer, genderqueer, a first-generation college graduate, a survivor of childhood abuse, and born and raised in the Deep South. For the first 20 years of my working life, my income was never more than $25,000 and was often much less. My income in the past two years has jumped significantly, and I made about $70,000 in 2022. This is much more money than I’ve ever made (it boggles my mind and scares me a little to say publicly). But I have a veritable fuckton of debt from all the years I didn’t have enough, and I’m still trying to dig myself out. Long story short, I’m making more money and feel super proud of myself about it, but I’m definitely not yet financially secure.

I say all this because many people incorrectly assume that if I’m offering discounts, it must be because I don’t need the money. Rather, I offer solidarity discounts as a commitment to anti-capitalist practices in my business. I ask that you use the discounts only if you truly need them and not because of preference to pay a lower cost or a fear of future scarcity.
